ETA® International (ETA®) Broadband Fiber Installer (BFI) Certification
Installers engaged in fiber optic communications, manufacture, installation or repair may attempt the ETA® International BFI examination. This exam tests the knowledge of a fiber optics installer working in an FTTx, PON, and/or outside plant applications. ETA®’s BFI certification provides official recognition of the examinee’s knowledge, ability and competency with the hardware and theory of operation in this technology.
The prerequisite for attempting this exam is the completion of a broadband fiber optics installer training course with an ETA® International approved fiber optics training school. In addition to this training, the applicant for ETA® certification must also present documentation of successfully passing the BFI hands-on skills testing.
Examination development and administration is a joint effort of hundreds of training institution members, industry & military professionals, ETA® officers and staff.
BFI will be Level 1 with the BFT (Broadband Fiber Technician) as the next level (L2).
ETA® Broadband Fiber Installer Certification Exam
The Light Brigade offers independent certification through ETA® International (ETA®). ETA®-certified technicians are professionally recognized as having the knowledge and skills to meet international de facto electronics industry standards. ETA® certification is valid for four years.
