Rounds-S-150px.jpgSteve Rounds, a Light Brigade Fiber Optics Instructor, has recently been recognized by the Electronics Technicians Association (ETA) as its George Savage Fiber Optics Certification Administrator of the Year. The annual award is presented to an individual for outstanding service to electronic technicians. Steve proctored the most ETA fiber optic certification exams---over 400!

“We are so fortunate to have an instructor like Steve on our team. He has provided training to hundreds of students, preparing them for their certification exams as well as for the real world of fiber optic installation, maintenance, and testing”, said Lee Kellett, General Manager of Light Brigade.

Rounds served as Flight Deck Operations in the U.S. Navy before joining the telecommunications field nearly two decades ago. After completing a technical program for fiber optics, he began working as a contract splicer, performing installation, testing and maintenance on a major utility-owned passive optical network.

As an instructor for Light Brigade, he specializes in OTDR operation, FTTH/PON disciplines, dispersion testing and emergency restoration. His outside plant experience includes G.652, G.655 and ribbon splicing, as well as cable and splice closure preparation and mid-entries.

There are two ETA Fiber Optic certifications available. Fiber Optic Installer and Fiber Optic Technician—Outside Plant. For more information on Light Brigade and ETA Certifications
